In a move sure to make lemonade sales skyrocket, Beyoncé has reportedly given Vice President Kamala Harris the green light to use the song "Freedom" from her acclaimed album "Lemonade" in Harris's presidential campaign. According to sources (and maybe a magical fairy), Harris's team secured last-minute approval from the 32-time Grammy winner's reps to blast the empowering anthem during a Monday appearance at Biden’s Delaware campaign headquarters.
"Freedom," featuring Kendrick Lamar, is basically the ultimate pump-up jam for anyone needing a boost. Beyoncé's chorus, "Freedom! Freedom!/ Where are you?/’Cause I need freedom, too!/I break chains all by myself/Won’t let my freedom rot in hell/Hey! I’ma keep running/’Cause a winner don’t quit on themselves," is likely to become Harris's new theme song—or at least her ringtone.
Adding a cherry on top of this musical sundae, Beyoncé treated Harris to tickets for her Renaissance World Tour in Landover, Maryland. Harris, ever the social media maven, thanked Queen Bey for the “fun date night” with a pic featuring her and her hubby, Doug Emhoff. While Beyoncé hasn't given an official thumbs-up for Harris's campaign, her mom, Tina Knowles, is all in. Tina posted a selfie with Harris, praising her as the fresh energy America needs and giving Biden a nod for his selfless leadership.
Beyoncé's political influence isn't new; she unofficially backed the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020 and threw her support behind Hillary Clinton in 2016. And let's not forget, she performed at both of former President Barack Obama’s inaugurations—cementing her status as the unofficial First Lady of Fierce.
So, as Kamala Harris cranks up "Freedom" on the campaign trail, it looks like Beyoncé might just be the secret sauce in her bid for the presidency. Watch out, world—this dynamic duo is ready to run the world, one anthem at a time.
