With the Duke of Cornwall title, the Prince of Wales, 42, took control of the $1 billion estate following King Charles' ascension to the throne in September 2022. One of William's initial decisions as the estate's owner was to remove Elliot, 75, from the payroll, according to the Telegraph.

Camilla’s younger sister had earned a substantial income over the past two decades for her interior design services to the royals. Elliot was initially hired by Charles, then the Prince of Wales, as the chief designer of his estates after his marriage to Camilla in 2005.

During her tenure, Elliot earned hundreds of thousands of dollars, working on projects such as designing the Duchy holiday cottage and updating the decor at properties in Cornwall, Wales, and the Isles of Scilly. The Integrated Annual Report, published Wednesday, detailed Elliot's payments, ranging from $25,000 to $105,000 for maintaining royal rental properties and Duchy offices.

Palace sources confirmed to the outlet that William's decision to terminate Elliot's employment was not due to any dissatisfaction with her services or bad blood. The report noted that Elliot had been paid “in the normal course of business and on an arm’s length basis” and had been reimbursed between $9,000 and $116,000 annually for purchasing furniture, decor, and retail stock.

Elliot's extensive work included overseeing the refurbishment of a 20-bedroom pub at King’s Poundbury development in Dorset and a lodge for guests at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland. However, for the first time in nearly 20 years, Elliot was not paid for her services between 2023 and 2024, as revealed in the report.

The report also disclosed Prince William's annual income from the estate, showing that he received $30 million during the 2023-24 financial year. Despite his significant earnings, William has chosen not to disclose his tax payments, diverging from his father King Charles' tradition of more than 30 years.
